Tui-na (tui = pushing, na = lifting, squeezing) is a body treatment in which the acupressure points are stimulated to open the body’s defenses (Wei Qi) and to let the energy move in the meridians and the muscles. The practitioner may use some Tuina massage techniques to the patient’s body, like: pressing, flicking, rubbing, pinching, rolling, shaking, percussing, pulling, kneading and even lifting or stepping.
These Tuina massage techniques help in the treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders, as well as many non-musculoskeletal disorders.
